Sint Maarten (Dutch Side)

Little Bay - When you think of a beautiful Caribbean beach, you probably imagine one that is not unlike Little Bay. There are plenty of watersports opportunities here. The snorkeling is fabulous. Great food spot!

Cupecoy - This beach is unlike most of the beaches on the island. Its beauty is marked by the cliffs and caves that line the beach. The water is rough here, so it is not ideal for little ones. However the rocks do provide protection from the winds.
Simpson Bay - Another mile long white sandy beach. Great for windsurfing and surfing. The waters can get rough here.

Dawn Beach - Another calm, coral reef protected spot. Snorkelers love this quiet spot. Try to make it here at sunset, you will not be dissappointed! It is a bit of a chore to get here, but don't let that stop you from experiencing the breathtaking beauty.

Maho Beach - Located near Juliana Airport. Just a small beach, but the location gives you some wonderful views of the airplanes departing and arriving, and it is as close as you will get to the airport with this kind of view. The beach is rocky, and the waters here can get testy.

St. Martin (French Side)

Orient Beach - Located on Baie Orientale (Orient Bay). The waters surrounding the sands of Orient have been designated a marine resereve by the government in Paris. Orient is also the most developed, so if it action you are seeking, look no further. Orient has it all. But all of the action does not distract from the ambiance, as the shoreline is lined with quaint tiki huts. You will find a lot of the jet skiiers prefer this section. The waters are very calm, so it lends itself perfectly for the divers.

Friars Beach - On the northwest side of St. Martin you will find Baie de Friar, home of Friars Beach. This is the night time party stop for the thrill seekers.

Grand Case - Baie de Grand Case also on the northwest side of St. Martin is the location for Grand Case Beach. Great for snorkeling. This beach is recognized throughout the Caribbean as a culinary haven, because the beach is lined with restaurants. Make plans to enjoy a late evening stroll along this mile-long beach!

Baie Longue - Also known as Long Bay, as it is the longest white sand beach on the entire island. The beach begins at La Samanna in the lowlands on to the western tip of St. Martin. The water is beautiful there, with its aqua hitting the white sands. This beach offers a lot of privacy partly due to there are no watersports available on this beach.

Le Galion Beach - This the favorite hangout for the local children. Because of the Coral reef surrounding the beach the waters remain calm and shallow. There is also some windsurfing rental outlets located here, be sure to give it a go!

Mullet Bay - The resort located here has closed, but the beach remains as popular as ever. For the divers, there are some wonderful caves at your disposal for exploring! The island's only golf course is located just a stone's throw away, so while dad is busy tearing up the greens, the kids can enjoy the white sands and watch the surfers. The rocks lining the shore make a great vantage point for the photographers!

Petites Cayes - A secluded beach that is only accessible by foot or by boat.

Baie Rouge - This small beach has some great food spots. Make sure you try one of the local barbecue shacks for a nice lunch and a cold drink. Not to be missed is Devil's Hole, which is a hole in the middle of the cliffs with a waterfall.

Anse Marcel - Located in the Marina Port de Lonvilliers. Another great kiddie hangout due to the shallow waters. The marina offers opportunity for shopping and dining. The view on the drive here is also a treasure.

Island of Pinel - Just an islet off the coast by the French Cul de Sac where the waters remain calm. You must take a ferryboat from the Cul de Sac to arrive here. It is pristine!

St. Barthélemy

St. Jean Beach - St. Jean Beach is divided into two beaches of unequal size by Eden Rock, which protrudes into St. Jean Bay. The smaller side is a great hangout for kids in that it enjoys a more serene atmosphere. The larger side has the hotels, restaurants and the airport landing strip, although the airstrip does not seem to bother anyone, in fact it is a sight-seeing opportunity — watch the landings.

Lorient Beach - This beach, located on the north side of the island, is not a center of a lot of activity. So it affords you with a haven of rest. The swimming is great because the beach is protected by a barrier reef, so the wave activity is kept at a minimum. It is also shady. Not a lot of tourists know about this beach.

Grand Cul de Sac Beach - Also reef protected so it remains quite calm. The water is very shallow, perfect for tots. There are hotels and restaurants located here. You can actually go quite far out into the lagoon. Seems to be the favorite hangout for the pelicans, who will gladly put on a fishing exhibition you won't soon forget. There is some wind-surfing in the vicinity, but you won't find many yachts and larger craft in the area, as it is adjacent one of the Marine Reserves which restricts a lot of that activity.

Flamands Beach - Probably the most scenic of all the beaches. It is seldom crowded, even though it is well known. A great location for bird watching, people watching, too!
Marigot Bay - This is a popular spot for those who like to snorkle! Because of its small size, not a lot of tourists take their swimming here. It is located on the northeastern section of the island in a small cove. The narrow shoreline is lined with spectacular palm trees.

Colombier Beach - For brave and hearty, Colombier is the stop for you! It is not easily accessed: either by boat or a mile-or-so hike along a narrow path. Great lunch spot! Also great for boat watching. The scenery is very delightful.

Saline Beach - Not a very shady beach (although a very beautiful one), so bring your sun protection. It almost seems as though it has been a deserted island beach, because it so unspoiled. Located on the Southern portion of the island.

Gouverneur Beach - Another pristine southern beach. It is in a cove, and does provide some wave activity. Legend has it that Cat. Monbars, the pirate, buried some of his booty in a cave adjacent to the beach. Also a beach with not much shade, so again, be forwarned to pack the sunscreen.

Petit Cul de Sac - On the northeast corner of St Bart is a calm lagoon with the most gorgeous white sand. That would be Petit Cul de Sac. Great picnic spot, because it sometimes seems so deserted.

Shell Beach - Located in the capitol of the island, Gustavia. The name says it all, it is covered with sea shells. For the little ones, this is a favorite because it provides them with unusal trinkets to take home, at a very good price! Be sure to come here and catch one of the winter sunsets.
